Plants Add Happiness
Good Neighbor Day Participants
We usually profile an avid gardener in this article and in a sense we still are, we decided to include a few comments from non-profit organizations that have participated in our Good Neighbor Day Program.
Good Neighbor Day is held 5-6 times a year where we offer flowers to local, non-profit organizations at no charge. The extra flowers are from our wholesale side of the business; the flowers are in good condition and are usually ready to be planted. The flowers provide color and variety to gardens at schools, churches and other non-profit organizations that might not otherwise be able to plant gardens. We are very happy that we can provide flowers for gardens to a limited number of organizations in our county.
"The flowers we received as part of the Good Neighbor Day were so pretty and they will continue to provide happiness to our congregation and staff. Flowers are not part of our annual operating budget so to have such a great offer for free flowers was a wonderful gift," states Leslie from Westminster Presbyterian Church.
"The flowers and vegetables we received from the Good Neighbor Day are key elements of the children's learning garden at the Eastside Neighborhood Association," says Pat, Executive Director of the Association. "The kids learn how things grow; they work with a volunteer Master Gardener to plant, water and maintain the plants. The kids and our staff are very happy to have this opportunity for a garden at our Association location. The garden enhances our neighborhood and it is only possible due to the Good Neighbor Day Program."
