Vegetable Growing Classes

Growing tomatoes and other vegetables will be covered in our Quick Classes in March at the Retail Store.

Kalamazoo Master Gardeners to Teach Class

Back by popular demand is the MSU Extension class, Master Gardener Vegetable Gardening 101. Last year's class was so successful that it will be repeated this year. The class runs for six weeks from March 23 through April 27, from 7-9 PM at the Nazareth Complex, 3299 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI. Classes are held in the Georgian Room and over the six week period soil requirements, seed starting, buying young vegetable plants, container gardening, fertilizing, pest and disease control, watering techniques, heirloom vegetables, growing organically and more will be covered.

"The class is for anyone interested in growing vegetables, the non-experienced to the experienced are welcomed. We really enjoyed hearing how our attendees from last year grew vegetables and to share in their enthusiasm of trying new plants and gardening ideas," states Linda Whitlock, Consumer Horticulture and Master Gardener Program Coordinator for Kalamazoo County MSU Extension.

Call (269) 384-8197 or email smeltze6@msu.edu for additional information and to register for the class. The cost is $40 and payment is due upon registration.

If you can't commit to this five week class, consider attending our Quick Classes at Wenke Greenhouses which are only one hour. We will have a Quick Class on Tomato and Pepper Gardening Basics, Thursday, March 12th from 6-7. We will have a Quick Class on other vegetable gardening basics Thursday, March 26th from 6-7.
