Fall Bulbs for Spring Beauty
Many Bulbs and Colors to Select From
The beautiful spring flower displays that bring hope that the winter is over originate in the fall. Now is the time to plant the fall bulbs for that spring beauty. We're excited that Tony Weits from Van Bloem Gardens will be with us on Saturday, October 3rd to share his expertise on bulbs. Today, I thought I'd take just a minute to feature a couple of the items we are carrying this fall at Wenke Greenhouses.
Daffodils are a wonderful plant because they are resistant to deer. I know that I was pretty frustrated last spring when the deer came and ate all my tulips right when they started to flower. Daffodils are the answer. Their beautiful trumpet flowers are just as beautiful as tulips and I get to enjoy them instead of the deer.
Allium is one of the most beautiful spring flowering bulbs. I had some in my yard and had several neighbors comment on how beautiful they were. If you have never tried this plant, I'd recommend it!
We're offering the Beautiful Blends again this fall. The bulbs are a collection of varieties that work well together. There are deer resistant collections, season extending collections, combinations of colors and more.
New for us this year is Fritillaria imperalis rubra which actually helps to keep deer away while its blooming and other animals from digging around it.
