Fall is for Planting

We took this idea seriously this fall and totally re-did the landscaping by the road. Nancy from Murray Landscaping helped us design a garden that would be attractive in the spring, summer and fall. The planting is finished but we still are putting the finishing touches on a few things and then we will add the mulch - hopefully before snow falls!

New varieties are exciting to learn about so we intentionally planted a number of them. We plan to have markers next to many of the plants to identify what they are so look for them next spring. One of the new shrubs is Candy Sensation Snowberry which is supposed to bloom all winter long once it gets established. Another new shrub is Bloomerang Lilac which has extremely long lasting blooms. Hibiscus Kopper King is not new but it's easy to overlook in the spring because it really starts to look its best in late summer.

Don't worry - we still plant to have the beautiful large flower pots on the poles next spring. We will also add the annuals to the new flower beds including the new SunPatiens that did so well in our trials and the dramatic tropical Ensete we had for the first time this spring.

It might take a little while for the new plants to get established but we're excited about the new design and the opportunity to showcase certain plants. Thanks to all who honked as you drove by while we were
working! It was fun to play in the dirt.
