Do you say "tomaato" or do you say "tomahto"? The good news is that it really doesn't matter. Both are welcome to join us on Thursday, August 30th from 4-7 PM at our store on the corner of Sprinkle & Market in Comstock.
We're excited to have Ron Carpenter and his family back to give everyone an opportunity to taste the different varieties of tomatoes. It was delicious last year and I expect it will be again this year! Ron farms 130+ acres of corn and soybeans plus 3+ acres of vegetables. Come experience all the different flavors from the beefsteak types to the cherry types and everything in between. Pick your favorite so you know what variety to grow at your home next year! Ask questions from a real garden expert on growing techniques, varieties, and more.
From 5:00-5:30 on Thursday we'll also be hosting our first ever garden produce swap. Bring some peppers or berries or something from your own garden and exchange with someone else to enjoy more flavors. Share some tips at the same time.
From 5:45-6:15 will be a perennial exchange. Divide a favorite perennial and bring it in to trade for someone else's favorite perennial. It's a great way to learn about the perennials that people have in their yards while also coming home with something new. Don't have something to divide? No problem - you're welcome to join us just to learn and enjoy.
This event is Thursday, August 30th from 4-7. MacKenzies Bakery will be there with bread to sell and taste. The Cheese Lady will be there with all kinds of cheese varieties for purchase and tasting. Ellen Russell will be there with herb butter and recipes. No charge and all are welcome. Registration is apprecicated on the website or call the store at 269-388-2266.
Hope you can make it! Sharing the tastes and experiences from our gardens is one of the best things about gardening!
