The First of June from Wenke Greenhouses

I can't believe it's already time to turn the calendar from May to June.  How did this month go by so fast?  It seems like it just warmed up a few days ago and now it's time to go to graduation parties and pack for summer camps.  But wait!  We still have a bit of time before the school stops taking the kids every day.  What would you like to do?  I'm anxious to get the area around my mailbox planted this weekend along with our new flower boxes on the deck.  I'll be ready for summer when that's done.  :)

June Specials starting now!

  • Bedding plant flats are now $5 off with coupon from website!  Reg. $14.99.  Great selection including some novelty varieties usually only available in pots.  This size is perfect for planting larger areas.

  • Wenke 1/2 gallon perennials now 25% off.  Reg. $5.49 each.  This size is a great value to begin with and now even better at 25% off.

  • 4" Geraniums are 5 for $10.  Reg. $4.49 each.  We grew too many and they're a little big so we priced them to move.

Thursday 6 PM Quick Classes continue.  June 6th is the popular fairy garden class and optional workshop.  Come with a friend and learn how to make these miniature gardens.  The class is free but there is an additional charge for the workshop if you want to make one to take home.  June 13th is Cooking with Herbs.  Register at www.wenkegreenhouses.com or call 269-388-2266.

We hope you enjoy the beginning of June and stop in soon!  Remember to bring a container to take home the free liquid fertilizer available - your plants will thank you.  We also encourage you to drop off the plastic for recycling and/or for us to re-use.  The recycle bin is in the corner of the barn and the parking lot and is available 24 hours a day.

Mailbox Planting

When I drive through my neighborhood or other neighborhoods, I find myself looking at mailboxes.  Well, it's not really the mailbox - it's more what's around the mailbox.

Hummingbird Gardens

I was reminded again recently about how many people enjoy having hummingbirds in their garden.  A friend was talking about how she wanted a specific plant to put by the feeder just so that she could attract these beautiful birds and enjoy watching them.  Attracting hummingbirds is relatively easy to do with certain plants and a few garden basics.

Dividing Perennials

The best thing about perennials is that they come back year after year.  The second best thing is that you can get more by simply dividing them.
