I finally broke down and turned on the furnace last night. Just in time for this miserable cold day mixed with snow flurries! I know, it’s silly to have gone this long without turning it on but it’s kind of our "thing" now. It all started one fall about 10 years ago when we made it all the way to November 1st without turning on the furnace. Ever since then, we shiver our way through October eagerly waiting for the calendar to flip to November. Actually, my sons are the ones who shiver since my husband and I actually enjoy it a little on the cool side, especially for sleeping. But, on the plus side, it looks like it won’t be on for long since Keith is forecasting 70 degree weather all next week. Yippee!
We officially close the doors for the 2015 season tomorrow, Oct 30, 2015. We still have some mums and pansies available – all 50% off. There is still time to plant pansies for some early spring color. Depending on the weather, these little beauties could continue to bloom in your garden into early December. When temperatures go below freezing, pansies will stop growing and blooming but will come back in full force in early spring and bloom their hearts out until hot weather stifles them in the summer. And if you plant now, you won't have to freeze your fingers planting in the early spring. Stop in and see us. We will be open from 9-6 tomorrow.
For those interested in becoming Master Gardeners, registration is now open for the next Master Gardener class in southwestern Michigan.
